In a stirring display of courage and humanity, three young Saudis, Ahmed Nasser Al-Anzi, Hamoud Masamah Al-Anzi, and Mubarak Farih Al-Anzi, are being widely praised for their heroic rescue of two Chinese nationals whose vehicle overturned and was swept away in flash floodwaters in the Al‑Shamli area, southwest of Hail.
The incident unfolded on a rainy Sunday evening when all three men, driving together near Al‑Shamli, noticed a car adrift in the flood’s powerful current.
According to reports, the vehicle had flipped over, trapping its occupants inside Without hesitation, Ahmed jumped into the raging waters!
His friends, Hamoud and Mubarak, stood by his side, anchoring themselves on the rocks to secure their path back, and helping to shepherd the rescued individuals to higher ground. News of the rescue spread quickly. A video of the event went viral, catching the attention of China’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Chang Hua, who publicly praised the three men for their selfless act.
In a heartfelt ceremony at the Chinese Embassy in Riyadh, Ambassador Chang formally honored Ahmed, Hamoud, and Mubarak.
During the event, the two Chinese nationals who had been rescued were also present, offering their sincere gratitude. The ambassador emphasized how their rescue exemplifies deep values of bravery, that help strengthen the bond between the Saudi and Chinese peoples.
In Saudi Arabia, the incident was also officially recognized: Prince Abdulaziz bin Saad, the Emir of Hail, received the young men in his palace, praising their courage and generosity as a shining example of Saudi values.
