Clarifications Have Been Made About the Black Fungus Disease

Oman’s Ministry of Health on Tuesday confirmed the detection of three cases of black fungus as the surge in COVID-19 cases continues in the Sultanate.

The three patients are currently undergoing treatment, according to Oman’s Ministry

Mucormycosis, commonly knowns as ‘black fungus’, is a complication caused by a fungal infection. People catch mucormycosis by coming in contact with the fungal spores in the environment. It can also develop on the skin after the fungus enters the skin through a cut, scrape, burn, or other types of skin trauma.

And many people in Saudi Arabia are now very concerned about this disease and have several questions about how it spreads and what it does.

However, the Health Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council has reaffirmed that it is not contagious

Even a video has been released to clarify the disease a little bit more
