What a week it has been for green energy in Saudi. First it was the opening of EV-maker Lucid’s flagship studio in Riyadh, and now news has come in that Saudi Airlines has signed a deal for electric flying jets.
Saudi Airlines and the maker of the electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jets, Lilium, have signed an MOU at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference in Riyadh.
Great to be at @FIIKSA today where we announced a strategic partnership with @Saudi_Airlines for the development and operation of an eVTOL network across Saudi Arabia. As part of the agreement, SAUDIA plans to purchase 100 all-electric Lilium Jets. #Lilium https://t.co/zbc7V5CTTn pic.twitter.com/1XTSP7oeRW

These eVTOL jets are small in size and are actually like air taxis. Needless to say, this could prove to be a game changer for aviation in the country or region, for that matter.

Congrats go to the flight test team for demonstrating the control and stability that Lilium’s DEVT can achieve! #Lilium #eVTOL pic.twitter.com/LbRNMAN3CX
