In the past few weeks, one development that the whole footballing world has been watching closely is whether Messi will make the move to Saudi Arabia or not. As per a source who is aware of negotiations, the probability is as high as “50-50” for Messi to make the move to Al-Hilal, according to a report in ESPN.
Al-Hilal, by the way, are the reigning champions of the Saudi Pro League and are the city rivals to Ronaldo’s side, Al-Nassr.
ESPN cited a separate source who went on to claim that Messi received an offer from Saudi Arabia last week.
If you look at the options Messi has after his contract with PSG expires this summer, nothing is even close to what the Saudi side is offering.
Barcelona’s president has expressed interest in funding a deal to bring the Argentinean captain back to Camp Nou, however, the LaLiga leaders’ financial troubles make such a move unlikely.
As per media reports, Inter Miami has also been in negotiations with Messi. The MLS franchise, however, would not be able to compete with the financial offer from Saudi Arabia.
