After Herve Renard announced his departure from the Saudi national team in March this year, the Saudi National football team was looking for its next big coach. Roberto Mancini is definitely no less than big, as he lead his former Italian national team to victory at Euro 2020!
I am excited to announce that I am joining the Saudi Arabia Football Federation as Head Coach of the National Team. I am delighted and honored to have been selected for such prestigious role, as a sign of appreciation and recognition for all the work done during these years. pic.twitter.com/lW2pF0rVar

Although the announcement has not yet been officially made, Roberto posted the news on X. The official press conference will take place at 5pm local time in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Green Falcons are set to play their first match featuring their new coach on September 8, 2023 against Costa Rica, in Newcastle, UK.

Aside from being a legendary coach for the Italian national team, Roberto was also quite the player back in the day. He played more than 550 matches at Sampdoria, helped his team with the Series A League title, contributed to four Coppa Italia titles, and even won the European Cup Winners’ Cup. Roberto also took part in the 1990 FIFA World Cup, where he lead his team to the semi-finals! He’s now a manager and seriously knows how to coach a team to success. With Italy’s Euro 2020 win, success at previous FIFA World Cups, and his personal experience with football makes him a perfect fit for the Green Falcons!
