Two decades after a groundbreaking separation surgery in Riyadh, Princess Ann and Princess Mae Manzo, formerly conjoined twins from the Philippines, returned to the city that changed their lives
Their visit was part of the International Conference for Conjoined Twins, where they shared their inspiring journey and celebrated the medical achievements of Saudi Arabia.
Separated at the National Guard Hospital in 2004, the twins stayed in Riyadh for six months under the care of Saudi specialists
The surgery not only gave them independence but also opened a world of possibilities. Now in their third year at university in the Philippines, the twins reflected on the emotional and physical transformation they experienced. “After our surgery, I gained a new appreciation for individuality and independence,” Princess Mae shared.
Their return to Riyadh was a celebration of Saudi Arabia’s three decades of expertise in conjoined twin surgeries, with over 60 successful separations performed
The conference also brought global attention to the ongoing challenges faced by conjoined twins and their families, calling for inclusive support and care systems.
This visit was a powerful reminder of how expert care and compassion can transform lives, turning extraordinary challenges into inspiring success stories.
