Millions of people travel to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah for the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, seeking spiritual fulfillment and religious duty. Some travelers however like to get creative, journeying on foot, motorbike, or even bicycles.
Recently, a dedicated traveler from France completed an incredible trek from Paris to Makkah on foot, demonstrating the diverse and passionate ways pilgrims undertake this significant spiritual journey.
French traveler Mohamed Boulabiar spent eight months walking through 13 countries to perform Umrah, and trained for two years for his 8,000-km journey. Starting in Paris on Aug. 27, 2023, he trekked through 11 countries, including Italy, Greece, Jordan, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, and Turkey!
Boulabiar told the Saudi Press Agency that “It has been a dream since childhood. I yearned to arrive in Makkah on foot, emulating the prophet, (PBUH) ”
