Haramain Railway Adds 400,000 Seats To Ease Pilgrim Travel During Hajj!

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has announced a 25% increase in capacity on the Haramain High-Speed Railway ahead of the Hajj season for 2025, adding an impressive 400,000 seats to its service!

This brings the total number of seats available to nearly two million, aiming to provide a smoother and more efficient journey for pilgrims traveling between the holy cities.

Between Dhul Qada 1 and Dhul Hijjah 20 (April 29–June 26), SAR will operate 4,768 trips across the railway’s 453-kilometer route, which connects five major stations: Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah’s Sulaymaniyyah station, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City.

The Haramain Railway is a key player in the Kingdom’s advanced mobility system, offering a fast, safe, and sustainable alternative to road travel

Operating at speeds of up to 300 km/h, the fleet of 35 trains produces zero carbon emissions, making it one of the top 10 fastest and most eco-friendly passenger trains in the world.

This expansion not only eases pressure on the road network but also reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to enhancing pilgrim experiences under Vision 2030

By coordinating with multiple government agencies, SAR’s operational plan aims to ensure every pilgrim’s journey is as smooth, spiritually fulfilling, and efficient as possible.
