In the heart of Makkah, as millions of worshippers gather for Ramadan, a group of selfless volunteers steps forward to serve.
From doctors and engineers to students and teachers, individuals from all backgrounds unite with one mission—to provide comfort and care to the guests of God.
The volunteers, many fluent in multiple languages, go beyond just handing out water; they offer guidance, answer questions, and extend warm hospitality, making every visitor feel welcome.
Maha Al-Sharif, leader of the Ruoh Makkah (Spirit of Makkah) team, describes this work as a privilege. “Every volunteer shares the same goal—to serve with sincerity and kindness. It’s a deeply fulfilling experience,” she says.
Young people like Mohammed Al-Yousfi, a student at Ibn Sina National College for Medical Studies, see volunteering as an act of devotion. “Serving Zamzam water is more than just a task—it’s a way to support pilgrims on their spiritual journey,” he explains.
From dawn to dusk, these volunteers embody the true essence of Ramadan—generosity, service, and unwavering faith.
Their presence at the Grand Mosque is a testament to the kindness and hospitality that define Saudi society, turning every small act into a meaningful contribution to the sacred experience of millions.
