As per the latest count, over 70 countries have backed Saudi Arabia’s bid for Riyadh Expo 2030. Continuing its grand ambition to host the expo, the kingdom has unveiled a grand masterplan. Here’s everything about it that you need to know.

The site will be located near the under-development King Salman International Airport. This will make it a breeze for visitors and transit passengers to join the extravaganza.

The expo will feature 226 exhibition pavilions, each designed in a spherical shape and featuring an equator line running through them.

The pavilions will be flexibly determined based on their longitudes, bringing together countries from the north and south of the globe side by side. This design will symbolize the kingdom’s important role in facilitating global cooperation.

Visitors will be treated to fully shaded corridors inspired by Riyadh’s architectural heritage. A stroll through this modern green oasis, nestled by the tributaries of Wadi As-Sulai, will make you feel like you’re in nature’s embrace.

In addition to the pavilions, the expo will also feature a modern green oasis, a prominent landmark symbolizing “Responsibility for Protecting the Planet,” and the Collaborative Change Corner (C3), an area that will drive innovation and creativity.

The expo is set to be powered by clean resources that rely on solar energy, and the kingdom is developing high standards for resource efficiencies and detailed strategies to enhance biodiversity, eliminate food waste, and ensure green waste management and recycling.

A major landmark representing ‘Responsibility for Protecting the Planet’ will be the heart and soul of the expo. With 195 columns symbolizing the participating countries, this iconic structure will be surrounded by three pavilions representing the themes of ‘Prosperity for All,’ ‘Climate Action,’ and ‘A Different Tomorrow.’
