Iranian Pilgrims Depart Safely Amid Assurances From Saudi Hajj Minister

Despite closed Iranian airspace due to escalating tensions with Israel, Saudi Arabia ensured the safe return of Iranian pilgrims from Hajj.

Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah held a phone call with Dr. Alireza Bayat, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, to reaffirm that all stages of the pilgrims’ journey home—via Jeddah, Madinah, and the Jadidat Arar border—would proceed smoothly and safely.

The first group of Iranian pilgrims departed on Sunday, as part of a plan directly supervised by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and supported by a dedicated operations room

The effort was carried out in line with the Kingdom’s top leadership directives, prioritizing service, safety, and coordination—despite the challenging regional backdrop. Dr. Bayat expressed sincere gratitude to King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their hospitality and care toward Iranian pilgrims.

He also praised Minister Al-Rabiah’s hands-on role in easing travel procedures and ensuring comfort during every phase of Hajj.
