Jeddah’s Oldest Palace Is Hosting A Major Art Exhibition
Drawing from its long artistic legacy, Jeddah is turning into the unofficial art capital of the region. Coming to the latest in the world of arts here, there’s the Hayy Jameel Arts complex opening next week and if you can’t wait until then there’s an incredible international art exhibition being hosted at the Khuzam Palace – this is the oldest surviving palace in Jeddah. It was built by King Abdulaziz back in 1932. The historical oil concession between Saudi Arabia and the Standard Oil Company of California was signed here back in 1933.
The palace is hardly ever open for tourists and now is the one time you can visit courtesy of this art exhibition.
Nuff said about the palace, let’s go straight into the deets of the exhibition.
The exhibition is called BIENALSUR and this year’s theme is ‘Echoes: A World between the analogue and the virtual’.
The #Jeddah edition of #BIENALSUR2021 themed ‘Echoes: A World between the analogue and the virtual’ is now open at the historic site of Qasr Khuzam, hosting 20 artists from 11 countries.
