The King Fahd Causeway linking Saudi and Bahrain will gradually reopen.
The road was closed in March to curb the spread of COVID-19 and as both countries ease restrictions, it was announced the road would now reopen and Saudis who are currently in Bahrain may re-enter the kingdom without a permit.
The statement also added that Saudis arriving at Bahrain airport would be still subject to a 10-day quarantine.
While the road was closed, new automated gates were installed on the Saudi side to provide a contactless journey for travellers, according to local reports. From today, Saudi citizens may return home.
