In 2024, Madinah welcomed 18 million visitors—an impressive rise from 14.1 million the year before
Even more notable is how long people are staying. What used to be an average two-day visit in 2019 has now extended to over 10 days, reflecting the city’s enhanced tourism experience and expanding appeal.
This surge isn’t just about numbers—it’s a sign of Madinah’s transformation. With improved accommodation, hospitality services, transportation, and healthcare, the city is becoming a more seamless and enriching destination for visitors. Officials attribute this growth to ongoing projects aimed at enhancing both pilgrimage and tourism, ensuring visitors have everything they need for an extended and meaningful stay.
One of the most exciting developments is the restoration of Madinah’s historic and cultural landmarks
Out of more than 200 archaeological sites, 100 are currently being developed, adding even more depth to the visitor experience.
To further support this growth, the Madinah Region Development Authority launched a multilingual smartphone platform, offering guidance on everything from local landmarks and souqs to traditional crafts and cuisine, making it easier for visitors to explore and connect with the city.
With visitor spending surpassing SR49.7 billion last year and continuous investments in infrastructure, Madinah is cementing itself as both a spiritual and cultural hub.
As the city continues to evolve, it remains a must-visit destination for millions worldwide
