As the holy month of Ramadan begins, Saudi authorities have implemented an extensive operational plan at Madinah’s Prophet’s Mosque to accommodate the surge of worshippers and visitors
The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has rolled out a series of upgrades aimed at ensuring a seamless and spiritually uplifting experience.
A core focus of the preparations is maintaining a pristine environment
The mosque will undergo thorough cleaning five times daily, supported by 161 cleaning vehicles and enhanced sanitation measures. Worshippers will be greeted with 27,000 newly placed carpets and the fragrance of incense, which will be dispersed four times a day to enhance the spiritual atmosphere.
To ensure a comfortable experience, authorities have installed 138,560 lights and 6,060 loudspeakers, providing clear audio coverage throughout the mosque and its courtyards.
Additionally, 114 electronic screens will display real-time updates to guide worshippers.
Accessibility has also been prioritized, with 2,782 restrooms, 180 escalators, 25 elevators, and 300 wheelchairs made available
Special accommodations have been set up for elderly worshippers, with 30,000 chairs designated for their use. Families visiting the mosque will also benefit from a newly established children’s hospitality center in the northern courtyard.
With these extensive preparations in place, the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah is fully ready to welcome millions of worshippers and ensure a serene and spiritually enriching Ramadan experience.
