Madinah is so home to so much Islamic history that almost anywhere you go in the city today, chances are that there’s a historic site, many of them connected to the early days of Islam, nearby. The governor of Madinah, Prince Faisal bin Salman, announced a major new drive that will restore over 100 such sites in the region.

The project kicked off this Wednesday, and the date of completion of this drive has been set at 2025.

The Sayyid Al-Shuhada Square site, Saqifa of Bani Saad, trench site, Qiblatain Mosque, and Othman bin Affan well are just a few of the sites that will be rebuilt.

Prince Faisal has recently inaugurated eight sites which have been restored under a previous drive.

These include Bani Anif Mosque, Al-Ghamama Mosque, Al-Raya Mosque, Abu Bakr As-Siddiq Mosque, Omar bin Khattab Mosque, Al-Suqya Mosque, Gharas well, and Urwa bin Al-Zubayr’s fort.
