According to local media, at least 6,310 people have been detained in Saudi Arabia for trying to undertake the Hajj without a permit.
Punitive actions are being taken against the offenders, according to Lt. Gen. Mohammad Al Bassami, director of Public Security and head of the Hajj Security Committee.
These campaigns’ perpetrators were detained and reported to the Public Prosecution.
Al Bassami has said in a statement that 27 people who were transporting pilgrims without proper Hajj licenses have also been caught. They could face potential jail time, fines and deportation in case they’re not citizens.
