In her remarks on the importance of sports for Saudi women, Princess Reema emphasized, “In a world filled with differences and divisions, sports serve as a powerful force capable of uniting communities and bringing people together, transcending national borders. It creates a shared celebration of athletic talent and the spirit of teamwork, embodying values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity, which are at the core of the transformation happening in our Kingdom today.”
She highlighted that this transformation is rooted in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims for comprehensive economic, social, and cultural reform.
Since the launch of Vision 2030, Saudi women have increased their participation in sports by more than 150%, with over 330,000 registered female athletes, thousands of coaches, referees, and sports doctors competing locally, regionally, and internationally.
Princess Reema spoke about the promising future of sports in the Kingdom, noting that Saudi Arabia is set to host several significant sporting events, including the FIFA World Cup in 2034, which will showcase the Kingdom’s rich sporting heritage and world-class infrastructure.
