The route will possibly expand to other areas of the Kingdom

Syrian Transport Ministry official Suleiman Khalil expressed optimism about expanding the route to include airports in Jeddah and Dammam, contingent upon passenger demand. This potential expansion could further enhance connectivity and bilateral exchanges between Saudi Arabia and Syria.

Flights temporarily resumed earlier this year for Hajj

The resumption of commercial flights marks a significant milestone since flights were suspended in 2012 amidst strained relations following Syria’s civil war. Earlier this year, flights temporarily resumed for pilgrims participating in the annual Hajj pilgrimage, paving the way for broader reestablishment of air travel links between the two countries.
