This huge event brought over 250 diverse dog breeds to the city for competitions, family entertainment, and undoubtedly plenty of tail wagging.

This inaugural global Riyadh Dog Festival was a remarkable experience. Riyadh Dog Festival Dog enthusiasts marked Thursday, November 30, to Friday, December 1, on their calendars. Attendees witnessed dogs participating in competition categories such as Best of Breed, Best in Show, a Beauty Pageant, and agility competitions like the Saluki Race, IGP (Internationale Gebrauchshund Pruefung, a test of tracking, obedience, and protection skills), and Agility.

Changing Perspective Towards Dogs In Saudi
It’s well-known that dogs in the region were primarily regarded for their utilitarian roles, serving as working animals or guards. However, events such events show a significant shift in acknowledging and celebrating dogs as cherished companions and essential members of families, as the idea of having dogs as pets had been a relatively recent, due to changes in lifestyles, the presence of more expats, and a global shift in attitudes toward pets within Saudi society.
