In just two weeks, over 60 solar-powered payment machines and 180 guidance panels have been installed, signaling a significant step towards organized public parking in the city. The project currently covers more than 2,000 public parking spaces on commercial streets and over 17,000 unpaid spots in nearby residential areas.
With over 500,000 visits to the Riyadh Parking project website and more than 7,000 users registering on the mobile app. Available on both iOS and Android, the app provides multiple digital payment options and aims to make finding a parking spot a breeze.
The initiative is especially focused on protecting residential neighborhoods from being overwhelmed by vehicles avoiding paid parking areas. The app even distinguishes between residents’ vehicles and others, ensuring locals have priority access to unpaid parking spaces.
The app offers various secure payment methods, including digital payments, cash payment devices, and website options. For added convenience, a 15-minute grace period will be provided before the parking fee is activated, accommodating those who need to park briefly.
