Al-Malik emphasized that the project is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to adopt environmentally-friendly solutions, with the hydrogen train serving as a key component in the country’s effort to transform its transportation sector. This success follows the announcement made by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Energy, during Climate Week last year, where he promised that the Kingdom would lead the region in deploying hydrogen-powered rail systems.

The development of the hydrogen train is just one aspect of a larger expansion strategy for Saudi Arabia’s railway network

It aims to connect new destinations and support economic growth across various sectors. Al-Malik also stressed that the Kingdom is actively monitoring hydrogen technology to ensure its readiness for large-scale adoption, particularly in the commercial sector.
