Camels have always been an important part of Saudi heritage. They will now be getting all the love, care, and recognition they deserve as Saudi Arabia has officially declared 2024 the Year of Camels.
This decision was made during a meeting of the Saudi Council of Ministers, led by King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, according to Gulf News.
The Ministry of Culture will spearhead a series of events throughout the year, aiming to showcase the value of camels and their deep connection to Saudi identity. These diverse programmes and initiatives will be a collaborative effort with various partners, consolidating national endeavours to enhance the “camel” sector.

But it isn’t like camels were any less important before; just take a look at the annual King Abdulaziz Camel Festival. Over the years, the festival has evolved into a major cultural and entertainment extravaganza. So next year’s edition will be even bigger now that 2024 is the year of the camels.
