Saudi Arabia Extends Condolences To Pakistan Over Devastating Flood Losses

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has conveyed the Kingdom’s deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of Pakistan following the devastating floods and torrential rains that swept through several provinces.

The ministry expressed solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time, offering prayers for the victims and wishing a swift recovery for the injured

Pakistan’s monsoon season, running from late June to September, brings the majority of the country’s annual rainfall and has historically caused devastating floods. Torrential rains and cloudbursts frequently trigger flash floods and river overflows, particularly in mountainous regions like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Over the decades, Pakistan has faced numerous deadly floods, including the 2010 inundation that affected 20 million people and the 2022 mega-floods that submerged one-third of the country. Climate change has intensified rainfall and increased the frequency of extreme events, while glacial lake outburst floods in the north add further risk. These recurring disasters underscore the country’s vulnerability and the urgent need for improved flood preparedness and resilience measures.

According to reports, more than 300 people, including 13 children, have lost their lives in flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains and cloudbursts, with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region among the hardest hit.Pakistan’s monsoon season, running from late June to September, brings the majority of the country’s annual rainfall and has historically caused devastating floods.
