So far, Saudi Arabia only had three official holidays: National Day and the two Eids. The kingdom now got a fourth official holiday and it’s less than a month away. Get those holiday plans ready already.
King Salman has signed a royal edict yesterday designating February 22 as the country’s Founding Day.
The new annual national holiday, which will be observed for the first time next month, was developed to commemorate Imam Mohammed ibn Saud’s founding of the First Saudi State in 1727.

Just an FYI, this is different from the National Day as the 23rd of Sept. that marks the unification of the country.
Historians believe that the foundations of the modern Saudi state were laid back in 1727 by Imam Muhammad. That vision culminated in King Abdulaziz’s founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932.
