Planning to perform Hajj this year? Better make sure you’ve got your official permit, because Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior just laid down some serious rules for anyone trying to bend them.
Starting from Dhul-Qi’dah 1 to Dhul-Hijjah 14, the Kingdom is tightening up entry to Makkah and the holy sites, and if you’re not following the rules, it could cost you BIG.

If you’re caught trying to perform Hajj without a permit, you could be looking at a fine of up to SAR 20,000. This applies to everyone — even those visiting the country on any type of visit visa who try to enter or stay in Makkah during this time.
Thinking of helping someone sneak in? That could get you hit with SAR 100,000 per person involved. Whether you:
Apply for a visa for someone planning to break the rules,
Give them a ride to Makkah
Let them crash at your hotel, apartment, or even a private home
Or help them in any way to stay hidden
you could be fined for every single person you assist. And yes, the fine stacks up!
If someone is living in the Kingdom illegally or has overstayed their visa and tries to perform Hajj without a permit, they’ll be deported and banned from re-entering for 10 years.
Got caught using your car (or someone else’s) to transport violators? If you’re the owner, or even an accomplice, the court might take your vehicle.
Bottom line: Get your Hajj permit. Don’t take shortcuts.
These new rules are all about keeping the pilgrimage safe, organized, and fair for those going the right way.
