Saudi Arabia Urges Citizens To Evacuate Lebanon Amid Political Tensions

The Saudi Embassy in Beirut has urged its citizens in Lebanon to leave immediately and contact the embassy in case of emergencies. Monitoring developments in southern Lebanon, the embassy reiterated the travel ban for Saudi citizens.

This comes after fears of rising political tensions between Israel and Hamas

Fears of a broader conflict involving Israel, Hezbollah, and Iran have led Arab and Western countries to intensify calls for their citizens to evacuate Lebanon. Some airlines have suspended flights in response.The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advised its citizens not to travel to Lebanon and urged those already there to leave promptly for their safety.Similarly, the US Embassy in Lebanon encouraged its citizens to book any available flight and contact the embassy if they need financial assistance to return to the United States.

Political unrest comes after the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh

The recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran has heightened the risk of military escalation, as Iranand its allies Hamas and Hezbollah have vowed “severe revenge” in response to Haniyeh’s killing.
