Through Saudi’s aid agency KSrelief, the removal effort was extensive and included five anti-personnel mines, 46 anti-tank mines, 935 unexploded ordnances, and three additional explosive devices, according to a report from the Saudi Press Agency.
This latest operation has brought the total number of cleared mines for July to 2,840. Since its inception, the Masam Project has removed a staggering 451,908 explosive devices throughout Yemen. The initiative, which focuses on ensuring safer living conditions for civilians, has made considerable progress in mitigating the dangers posed by these hazardous remnants of conflict.
The Saudi Press Agency highlighted that these explosive devices had been scattered indiscriminately across the country, posing a grave risk to everyone, including children, women, and the elderly. The mines and ordnances were left behind in a manner that intended to inflict harm on innocent civilians, exacerbating the challenges faced by those living in affected areas.
By systematically clearing these dangerous devices, the project is working to restore safety and stability in Yemen, helping to pave the way for recovery and reconstruction.
The dedication of the Masam Project underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and its role in supporting international efforts to address the aftermath of conflict. The project continues to make significant strides in enhancing the safety of civilians and contributing to long-term peace in the region.
