Saudi Streets Are Like A Ghost Town On The First Night Of Curfew

Avatar

One day in and the streets of Saudi were, appropriately, deserted on Monday night.

The Kingdom introduced a new curfew this week, it starts at 7pm and continues until 6am every day and last night proves the public is intent on taking it seriously.

The Saudi curfew will last 21 days and it’s part of a major attempt to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Empty streets! From Taif to Riyadh, Hail and beyond, Saudi was silent on the first night of curfew

The curfew will last 21 days

  1. It will begin at 7pm in the evening until 6am in the morning
  2. All necessary measures will be taken to implement the curfew by the Ministry of Interiors
  3. There are some exceptions. Employees of vital public and private sectors whose work requires continued performance during the curfew period are exempt (including employees of the security, military and media sectors, and workers in the sensitive health and service sectors, for which a detailed statement will be issued by the Ministry of Interior)

Taif streets were lifeless

Residents shared philosophical tweets about this extraordinary time
