These walls, ranging from 50-120 cm in height and 50-80 cm in width, stand as a testament to the architectural expertise of the ancient inhabitants.

Among the most significant discoveries were two well-preserved residential complexes

The first included rooms, storage spaces, basins, and hearths, while the second featured additional rooms, clay ovens, and supporting pillars, reflecting efficient spatial planning and versatile design.

The site also yielded 230 pottery fragments, both glazed and unglazed, adorned with intricate geometric patterns

In addition, archaeologists discovered 48 stone artifacts, 26 pieces of colored glass, 35 metal tools, and 17 stone implements like grinders and millstones—indicating a bustling commercial and industrial center.

Strategically located near the ancient Darb Al-Feel trade route, Al-Ma’mala played a crucial role in connecting southern Arabia with northern regions, fostering trade and cultural exchanges

This same route later served as a key pilgrimage path during the Islamic era, contributing to the growth of nearby settlements.

The Heritage Commission continues its mission to document and preserve Saudi Arabia’s rich history through advanced excavation techniques, ensuring these cultural treasures are shared with the world. This discovery not only enriches Saudi Arabia’s heritage narrative but also highlights the nation’s deep historical roots.
