Saudi Health Ministry Urges Residents To Get Flu Vaccine

Hera Shabbir

The Ministry of Health is encouraging everyone in Saudi Arabia—citizens and expats alike—to get their flu shot this season! Booking an appointment is super easy through the ‘Seasonal Influenza Vaccine’ service on the Sehhaty app.

Health centers across the Kingdom are all set to provide the vaccine for anyone who books through the app

The flu virus is always changing, so getting an annual dose keeps your immunity strong! The ministry especially wants to remind older adults to get vaccinated to protect themselves from severe infections and complications. Certain groups are more at risk when it comes to the flu, which include people with chronic illnesses, those over 50, kids between 6 months and 5 years, pregnant women, and anyone with severe obesity or taking immune-weakening medications.

Healthcare workers are also urged to get their shot to stay protected

The flu vaccine is totally safe and super effective at preventing serious complications. The Ministry of Health also highlights other preventive tips: wash your hands regularly, avoid touching your face, sneeze or cough into a tissue, and keep your surroundings clean.
