Ahmed Al-Suwailem, CEO of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector, announced the achievement during COP16, marking it as a pivotal moment in the Kingdom’s transformation journey.
“Today, we celebrate a monumental achievement,” Al-Suwailem shared. “Thanks to the unwavering support of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, we’ve exceeded expectations and reached this target before the end of 2024.”
With one million annual volunteers now active, Saudi Arabia is raising the bar, reviewing new objectives to achieve even greater impact by 2030.
Central to this success is the collaboration between Saudi leadership, government entities, private organizations, and the nonprofit sector. Al-Suwailem emphasized that public involvement has been crucial: “Our citizens’ efforts and shared experiences showcase Saudi Arabia’s role as global citizens, volunteering both locally and internationally.”
This milestone supports the Kingdom’s ambitious Vision 2030 framework, particularly its Saudi Green Initiative, which focuses on sustainable development and reducing oil dependency. Volunteering plays an essential role in fostering environmental, social, and economic growth.
