Saudi Minister Releases 15 Endangered Gazelles At Buraidah Oasis!

In a significant step toward wildlife conservation, Saudi’s Minister of Environment and Chairman of the National Center for Wildlife, Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, released 15 Arabian sand gazelles into Buraidah Oasis Park in the Qassim region!

This initiative marks the start of the 2024-2025 season of the center’s breeding and reintroduction program for endangered species. The Arabian sand gazelle, once a common sight, has faced challenges due to habitat loss, making this release a crucial moment for restoring balance to the region’s ecosystem.

The National Center for Wildlife plays a pivotal role in these efforts, collaborating closely with national entities to preserve and protect Saudi Arabia’s natural heritage

According to the center’s CEO, Mohammed Qurban, the biodiversity of Buraidah Oasis was carefully assessed before the release to ensure it is a suitable habitat for the reintroduced species. The initiative not only focuses on breeding and reintroducing endangered species but also works to rehabilitate ecosystems, enrich biodiversity, and boost ecotourism.

This wildlife release aligns with the broader goals of the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030, which aim to improve the environment and enhance the quality of life across the Kingdom

By fostering biodiversity and promoting environmental conservation, the initiative contributes to national efforts to create a more sustainable future.
