Saudi Mourns Its Oldest Known Citizen At 142 Years Old

Saudi has bid farewell to its oldest known citizen, Nasser bin Radan Al Rashid Al Wadaei, who passed away at the remarkable age of 142

His passing has drawn widespread attention across the Kingdom, with many reflecting on a life that spanned more than a century of profound change.

Funeral prayers were held in Dhahran Al Janoub, in the southern region of Saudi, before Al Wadaei was laid to rest in his home village of Al Rashid

More than 7,000 people attended the funeral, a testament to the respect and admiration he held within his community and beyond.

Born before the unification of Saudi Arabia, Al Wadaei lived through the reigns of the Kingdom’s leaders, from King Abdulaziz, the founder of the modern Saudi state, to King Salman.

His lifetime witnessed major political, social, and economic transformations, making him a living link to Saudi’s early history

Family members described Al Wadaei as deeply religious and devoted to worship. He reportedly performed Hajj more than 40 times and was known for his strong faith and discipline.

His personal life was equally extraordinary

He is survived by 134 children and grandchildren. According to reports, he married for the last time at the age of 110 and later welcomed a daughter.

News of his death spread quickly on Saudi social media, where many described him as a symbol of faith, resilience, and longevity. For many, his story serves as a reminder of the Kingdom’s rich human history and the generations that shaped it.
