Saudi Sets New Standards For Fashion Show Permit Requirements

Hera Shabbir

Saudi Arabia is rolling out new rules for hosting fashion shows, aligning with cultural norms and regulations. The Fashion Commission has set clear guidelines to ensure that fashion events respect public taste and avoid excessive exposure of models’ bodies.

Any garments featuring potentially offensive images, shapes, signs, or phrases are a no-go

For shows in Makkah and Medina, the rules are even tighter. Organizers must get approval from the holy city provinces and avoid any fashion pieces with religious, sectarian, or political themes, as well as images of public figures. Additionally, organizers need to set up a complaint and suggestion system and submit a detailed final report to the Fashion Commission, covering attendance, participating artists, and showcased works.

The Ministry of Culture has streamlined the permit process by introducing online applications, making it easier to host fashion events in the kingdom. 🌟
