Saudi Students Set Earlier Alarms With New Daylight Saving Hours

Saudi Arabia is officially rolling out daylight saving time in schools starting this Sunday, April 6, 2025 — just in time for the third academic term after the Eid Al Fitr break!

The adjustment, aimed at improving efficiency and syncing with seasonal daylight changes, will see earlier start times across public and private schools nationwide.

In Riyadh, for example, the morning assembly will now begin at 6:15am, with the first class starting at 6:30am sharp. This schedule will run through to the end of the term, on June 26.

Other regions are also setting their own updated timetables

In Asir, students will line up at 6:45am, with classes beginning at 7:00am, while Al Baha will start even later — 7:00am for the morning assembly and 7:15am for class.

Education authorities across the Kingdom are encouraging students, parents, and schools to embrace the new schedule with discipline and enthusiasm.

With only one term left in the academic year, it’s time to reset those alarms and lean into the final stretch!

The Ministry of Education also highlighted the important role of families in helping students ease into the shift, ensuring punctuality and focus as part of a smoother learning environment!
