Saudi is experiencing a rare contrast in weather, with freezing temperatures gripping the north while seasonal rains turn parts of the west into flourishing green pastures!
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) confirmed that Turaif, in the Northern Borders Region, recorded the Kingdom’s lowest temperature at -2°C.
The region is currently under the influence of a severe cold air mass, with temperatures expected to drop as low as -3°C throughout the week. Residents woke up to frost-covered landscapes, with the Saudi Press Agency capturing images of ice crystals forming on plants—an unusual sight in the desert nation.
The NCM has advised citizens to take precautions as fog is expected to reduce visibility in certain areas.
Meanwhile, in a striking contrast, recent rains have turned areas like Al-Hanakiyah and Rafha into lush, green expanses
Once dry, these lands have become ideal pastures for grazing livestock and are drawing in nature lovers eager to witness the stunning scenery. Visitors are flocking to Zubala, a historic stop on the ancient Zubaydah Trail, where grazing camels against the backdrop of preserved monuments create a breathtaking scene.
From frost-covered plants in the north to flourishing landscapes in the west, Saudi Arabia’s winter is offering the best of both worlds this season!
