In a transformative leap for Saudi Arabia’s labor market, over 480,000 Saudi women have joined the workforce in just four years

According to data from the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD). This surge, averaging 328 women entering the labor market daily, has driven the female unemployment rate down from 31.4% in 2020 to just 12.8% in 2024.

The total number of Saudi women registered with the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) has surpassed 1.09 million, marking a 78% increase since 2020

Riyadh leads with over 528,000 working Saudi women, followed by Makkah and the Eastern Province, highlighting concentrated growth in urban economic hubs.

Job growth among women has exceeded 100% in several regions, with Al-Jouf witnessing a 145% increase, Makkah at 126%, and both Asir and Al-Baha achieving 110% growth. This upward trend underscores Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of empowering women and fostering economic diversification.
