Saudi Women To Start Working As Fisherwomen For The First-Time Ever

Avatar

In the next few weeks, the traditionally male-dominated fishing business will likely see significant changes as women are anticipated to enter the field.

As part of a new government effort, 60 Saudi women are being taught to become fisherwomen.

According to local media, these ladies will receive training on how to fish, knowledge of the many fish species and assistance in selling their catch.

The National Fisheries Development Programme of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture is providing the training.

Many additional women’s-only batches are planned as part of the initiative; this is only the first.

Since 2019 Saudi women are making their presence felt in many male-dominated industries, the newest on that list is the fishing one. Another glass ceiling shattered!
