Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Environment, Abdulrahman Al-Fadhli, kicked off new cloud seeding programs in Dammam, focusing on using advanced tech and aircraft to boost rain production.
Since the program’s start in 2022, it’s made impressive strides, and new aircrafts are set to be in action soon
These efforts aim to enhance local expertise, sustainability, and the efficiency of cloud seeding, a significant key to Saudi’s Green Initiative. Ayman Ghulam, CEO of the National Center of Meteorology, stressed the program’s importance for water security and fighting climate issues like drought and desertification.
So far, the program has completed 444 flights, launched over 8,700 rain-seeding flares, and produced 5 billion cubic millimeters of rainfall, with operations starting in Riyadh, Hail, and Qassim
