Saudi’s New High-Speed Train Is Set To Transform Travel In The Kingdom

Saudi Arabia is embarking on one of its most ambitious infrastructure projects yet

A $7 billion high-speed rail network that will connect the Red Sea to the Arabian Gulf, linking Jeddah, Riyadh, and Dammam in record time.

Dubbed the “Land Bridge,” this massive project spans nearly 1,500 kilometers of rail and has been described as a “desert marvel.”

Once completed, it will cut travel time between Riyadh and Jeddah from about 12 hours by car to less than four hours by train, a game changer for travelers, trade, and logistics alike.

As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the project will expand the Kingdom’s railway network from 5,300 km to over 8,000 km, solidifying Saudi Arabia’s status as a regional transport hub. The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) is overseeing the project, which will include a mix of freight and passenger lines connecting King Abdullah Port with key industrial cities such as Yanbu.

But it’s not just about speed, it’s about experience

Alongside the Land Bridge, Saudi Arabia is also launching “Dream of the Desert,” a luxury 1,290-kilometer train route offering breathtaking views of the Kingdom’s natural landscapes, from Riyadh to Qurayyat.

With over 2.6 million passengers already using Saudi trains in the second quarter of 2025, rail travel is on the rise — and the Kingdom’s next chapter of connected, sustainable, and world-class transport is well on its way.
