In a groundbreaking move for gender equality, the Saudi Shoura Council has officially welcomed 19 new female members, significantly advancing women’s role in the Kingdom’s legislative process

With women now making up 20% of the 150-member council, this development highlights Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to increasing female representation in leadership positions.

The change comes following a royal decree from King Salman, which reconstituted the Shoura Council for the next four Hijri years starting from 3/3/1446

The decree also confirmed key leadership roles, with Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al-Sheikh continuing as speaker, and Dr. Mishaal Al-Salami and Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi stepping in as deputy speaker and assistant speaker, respectively. Dr. Al-Ahmadi stands out as a prominent figure in this new lineup.

Among the newly appointed members are several distinguished professionals
