In the past few years, Saudi Arabia has been restoring a slew of historic mosques under the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for Developing Historical Mosques. Now, nine historic mosques of Makkah and Madinah regions will be restored as part of the project.
Al-Baiah Mosque, constructed by the Abbasid Caliph Abu Jafar al-Mansour, and the Abu Inbeh Mosque in Harat al-Sham, constructed more than 900 years ago, are two of the mosques in Makkah city that are undergoing restoration.
In nearby Taif, Al-Jubail Mosque, which was constructed more than 300 years ago, would also be renovated.

Al-Itham Mosque, which is located close to the historical castle built by Mousa bin Nusair between AlUla and Hajrah, was built during the time of the Prophet Mohammed. It was built during the “Expedition of Tabuk” in the ninth year of the migration.
A small town in the Madinah province called Kheif al-Huzami is home to a mosque built by Egyptian Hajj minister Radwan al-Faqari in the middle of the 11th Hijri century. This, too, will be restored.
With all of these developments, it is clear that the Saudi Arabian travel bucket list is becoming increasingly long. Time to play catch up.
