In a thrilling showdown at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Al-Ahli clinched victory as the inaugural champions of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation Women’s Cup!

The team triumphed 3-2 over Al-Shabab in the final match on Thursday night!

The atmosphere was electric as Al-Ahli’s forward, Ibtissam Jraidi, stole the spotlight with her stellar performance, netting the first two goals for her team in the 18th and 50th minutes. Her exceptional skill on the field earned her the title of Player of the Match, igniting cheers from the crowd. Not to be outdone, teammate Naomie Kabakaba sealed the victory with a third goal in the 53rd minute, showcasing the teamwork and determination of Al-Ahli.

 

A nail biter throughout!

Despite Al-Ahli’s commanding lead, Al-Shabab staged a spirited comeback in the late stages of the game. Oriana Altuve converted a penalty in the 68th minute, injecting renewed energy into Al-Shabab’s efforts. The tension mounted as Chaima Abbassi scored a second goal in the 88th minute, narrowing the gap. However, despite their valiant efforts, Al-Shabab fell short of equalizing in the remaining time.

The Women’s Cup final marked the culmination of an exciting journey for the 16 participating teams, kicking off in November. Introduced by the federation to elevate the competitiveness of women’s football in the country, the tournament reflects the growing momentum of the women’s game globally.
