Under the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historic Mosques, the century-old mosque is being carefully renovated to revive its historical charm and serve worshippers once again.
The mosque, which was previously unused, will now play a role in the spiritual and cultural fabric of Madinah.
To preserve its authenticity, the restoration will use natural materials such as clay and local wood, reflecting the traditional architecture of the region.
These methods ensure that the mosque remains true to its original design while being adapted to the hot desert climate.
This initiative builds on the success of phase one, which saw 30 mosques restored in 10 regions across the Kingdom in 2018.
By bringing Qalaa Mosque back to life, Saudi Arabia reaffirms its commitment to protecting its Islamic landmarks and maintaining the country’s spiritual and architectural heritage for future generations.
