The United Nations Have Officially Marked February 10 As The Day Of The Arabian Leopard

Hera Shabbir

The United Nations has officially approved the date of February 10 of each year as the International Day of the Arabian Leopard. The Kingdom’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasel submitted a request to mark the special creatures.

This day aims to raise awareness of the Arabian leopard, and its importance to biological diversity, in addition to highlighting the importance of preserving it from extinction.

The good news falls in line with the efforts of Saudi Arabia to raise awareness on its wildlife

The Arabian leopard has existed in the Arabian Peninsula for over 500 years, but has decreased by 90% in population due hunting and lack of prey

Therefore, this day is a special opportunity to honor the Arabian Leopard and raise awareness on how to preserve the majestic spices.
