This Tweet By An Emirati Princess Shows How Two Of The Most Expensive Buildings On The Planet Are In Saudi

Avatar

Princess Hend bint Faisal Al-Qasimi of the UAE has a sizeable Twitter following and one of her most recent tweets is on the most expensive buildings in the world. And, guess what two of the top 10 are in Saudi – and not just any two in a list of ten, number 1 and 2 on the list are in Saudi.

Any guesses?

Hint: Both are in Makkah.

The tweet by the princess who is also an architect shows that the Great Mosque in Makkah was built at a cost of a whopping $100 billion.

In fact, all the top 10 combined don’t reach the construction cost the Great Mosque. This shows the amount of money Saudi Arabia has put into building, expanding and maintaining the holy mosque.

Its neighbouring Abraj Al-Bait Tower complex, which cost $15 billion to build, is ranked second on the list.

When it comes to the most costly structures, the United Arab Emirates is the only other Middle Eastern country to make the list, with the Emirates Palace costing $3 billion to build.
