Two earthquakes struck the Red Sea region on Saturday, affecting areas near the coasts of Saudi Arabia and Sudan
The first quake, with a magnitude of 4.7, occurred approximately 197 kilometers northeast of Tokar city in Sudan. This was shortly followed by a second tremor, measuring 4.2 in magnitude, located about 174 kilometers northeast of the same city.
The first earthquake struck at 12:09am on Saturday
The Saudi Geological Survey confirmed these occurrences in the middle of the Red Sea were 161 kilometers west of Al Lith Governorate in the Makkah Al Mukarramah region. Their seismic monitoring stations recorded that the earthquake struck at 12:09 am on Saturday, noting that it struck at a depth of approximately 10.4 kilometers.
Thankfully there were no reports of any damage or casualties
Despite the notable magnitudes of these earthquakes, no reports of damage or casualties have been issued by local authorities in either Saudi Arabia or Sudan. The seismic activity has been closely monitored, ensuring that any potential risks are quickly addressed.
