Watch: Frenzied Scenes Witnessed At Jeddah’s Airport As Travelers Arrive Well Before Their Flight

Avatar

Pilgrims almost numbering close to the pre-pandemic levels were witnessed in Ramadan this year. Many of these pilgrims had their flights scheduled immediately after the end of Ramadan. All was well and good, however, many of these travelers arrived well before their scheduled flights.

This was most likely due to the arrangements made by their respective umrah tour companies that brought them to the airport way before their boarding times – some pilgrims were apparently brought to the airport 12 hours before their boarding time.

A video widely shared on the internet shows people squatting on the floor inside the northern terminal of Jeddah’s airport and in its adjacent parking areas.

Companies that send their pilgrims 12 hours before the flight’s departure time have been cautioned by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reports the Saudi Gazette. Such companies will be subject to fines as well as impose punitive measures such as a one-year suspension.
