Hera Shabbir

Friday was a day to remember for Saudi Arabian motorsport as Yazeed Al-Rajhi made history by becoming the first-ever driver from Saudi Arabia to win the legendary Dakar Rally!

It’s all about Rajhi on this historic day!

The champion stayed cool and held onto his overnight lead to cross the finish line ahead of South Africa’s Henk Lategan, driving a Toyota, by a solid 3 minutes and 57 seconds. Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom took third, but he was quite a distance behind, finishing 20 minutes and 21 seconds behind Rajhi in his Ford.

Not bad, huh?

At 43 years old, Rajhi had already been close to victory, with a third-place finish back in 2022

But this win? This is the one that put him in the history books!

Saudi Arabia has been hosting the Dakar Rally since 2020, and now they’ve got a hometown hero leading the charge.
